Restoring lives.

Rebuilding communities.

Ending mass incarceration.

What is Guided By Purpose?

Guided By Purpose Reentry Initiative, Inc. is grassroots, justice-impacted–led 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to advancing healing, accountability, and opportunity for individuals, families, and communities most impacted by incarceration and violence. Grounded in restorative justice, we work both inside and outside prison walls to address the root causes of harm, support personal growth during incarceration, and ensure meaningful, supported reintegration after release.

Through community advocacy, civic education, and restorative justice practices, GBP empowers people to reclaim ownership of justice in their communities. We create spaces for healing-centered dialogue, leadership development, and informed civic engagement—equipping justice-impacted individuals and community members to participate in policy change, violence prevention, and community-driven solutions. Our work strengthens trust, builds collective responsibility, and challenges punitive systems that have failed to deliver safety or repair.

At every stage, we cultivate leadership and purpose—supporting people in becoming mentors, role models, and change-makers during and after incarceration. By centering lived experience and community wisdom, GBP is committed to breaking cycles of incarceration and inner-city violence while building pathways toward dignity, stability, and lasting communal healing.
